Once a small rural outpost of Manatee County, the community of Parrish in North Manatee became a barometer for Southwest Florida’s real estate boom and slump. Developers were drawn to Parrish by its huge tracts of cheap agricultural land within easy reach of interstates 75 and 275. They built and planned huge residential communities over orange groves and cattle pasture. You can get a great home for a price below the surrounding communities, but still have tremendous access to Tampa, to beaches, and shopping. The infrastructure is growing by the day, with a new high school planned for completion by 2020.
